What Airport do I fly into? – Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS) . Ground Transportation to and from DSS is included in your trip cost and will be arranged according to your unique arrival/departure times. Should you need to arrive or depart +/- one day, that can be arranged. 

What is the plug/electrical socket type in Senegal?

In Senegal, the standard plug types are C and D:

• Type C: Also known as the "Europlug," it has two round pins.
• Type D: This plug has three large round pins arranged in a triangular shape.

Voltage and Frequency:

• Voltage: 230V
• Frequency: 50Hz

Do I need a passport to travel to Senegal? Yes. You are required to have a valid passport to enter and exit Senegal. Be sure that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond the travel dates, to ensure no issues. 

What are the vaccine requirements to enter Senegal? The YELLOW FEVER vaccine is required to enter Senegal. Please bring your yellow fever certificate with you. 

The local currency in Senegal is the West African CFA franc (XOF). We can help you exchange money when you arrive in Dakar.

We recommend bringing some cash to exchange at the beginning of your trip. If you have a debit card, we can also escort you to an ATM for withdrawals. It's always helpful to have cash on hand.

Avoid exchanging money at the airport, as the rates aren't favorable. For the best exchange rate, bring large, crisp, new banknotes in your currency.

Regarding credit cards, there are some places like high end shops and restaurants that will accept credit card payments in Dakar, but it is seldom. It is best to rely on using cash during your trip. 

The official language of Senegal is French. However, several indigenous languages are widely spoken throughout the country, the most common being Wolof. Other significant languages include Pulaar, Serer, Jola, and Mandinka. Many people, especially in urban areas, are bilingual or multilingual, often speaking French along with one or more local languages. You will mostly hear a mixture of French and Wolof while in Dakar. 

Some nationalities do need a visa to visit Senegal for stays under 90 days, while others are exempt. United States, EU, Canada, UK, Japan, and some other countries are visa exempt, so you do NOT need a visa when entering Senegal for under 90 days.

Typically, Israel and Argentina also do not require a visa for under 90 days, however, you may still be asked to obtain a visa upon arrival at the Dakar airport. We will discuss this with you on a case by case basis, to ensure you are fully prepared. 

It's always recommended to also check with the Senegalese consulate or embassy in your country for the most up-to-date information based on nationality, as visa policies can change.

All levels of movers and shakers are welcome on this trip! Dance and drum classes can be modified according to the levels of participants. Keep in mind, this will be an active trip which may include walking in sand, walking up stairs, getting in/out of boats, and recreational activities like dancing, swimming, and guided walking tours. If you are not sure about your health or fitness abilities on this trip, please be sure to consult with your doctor or healthcare professional, and feel free to ask us any additional questions about the level of activity this trip entails. 

While your satisfaction with our guest services is important to us, because of the extensive time, effort, preparation, and care that goes into creating, coordinating, and securing our trip programing, we have a no refund policy for any trip cancelations made by the participant.  All sales are final and non-refundable, as we must enforce a strict cancellation policy to fulfill our contracts with our third-party vendors and collaborators. However, we understand that sometimes unexpected things such as "acts of God" can occur, so should you need to cancel and are able to secure a new guest participant to fill your spot, then we can transfer your reservation value to that new guest. Note: You cannot transfer your registration to an existing participant who has already been registered and submitted their deposit in our system. A transfer may only be valid for a new guest registration. In any case, should you need to cancel, please notify the Host immediately at travel@heartdancerexperience.com
