Join us in Zihuatanejo on the Mexican Pacific Coast for daily dance and yoga classes with plenty of time to relax and play between!

MAMA MANTA TREEHOUSE (up to 4 people max)

Up on the dune in the second row of houses just set behind two other treehouses, the Dune Manta comes with a spacious unique design that is easy to access. Suspended in mid-air by palm trees, these treehouses are designed to echo the manta rays you can see flying out of the ocean in front of Playa Viva. Each Treehouse is made up of two buildings. The “perch” in front is outfitted with a king bed as well as net hammock suspended out front in the air. The back house has a private bathroom downstairs and a loft upstairs. This second house is outfitted with 2 day beds and a desk. Ocean view is between two other treehouse units, set back a few yards from the units in front.

The Deluxe Suite is a spacious room with a King bed and a trundle bed that can sleep two more. King bed can be divided into two singles. Deluxe Suites are part of a 4-Bedroom Casita (one larger structure) consisting of two Deluxe Suites each with an adjoining Studio. Studios book separately or can be joined with a Deluxe Suite to form a Two-Bedroom Suite.

Deluxe Suites have a private bath and share a large balcony with the other Deluxe Suite that serves as a large outdoor living room containing a couch, chairs and a table. Deluxe Suites have an unobstructed ocean view.

Up to 2 people max. The Queen EcoCasitas is a one-bedroom self-contained “Casita” (little house). This EcoCasita provides complete privacy, and is the only room outfitted with a Queen bed (we can add a single bed or crib if necessary, but this makes it a little crowded). These rooms have an unobstructed ocean view. Queen EcoCasitas have a private bathroom on the same level and feature sliding doors that that open for a 180° degree ocean view or close for complete privacy. A small table and chairs are also available.

WHAT IS INCLUDED:

  • 4 nights and 5 days of lodging at our eco-luxury, regenerative hotel.
  • Daily dance (120 minutes) with your retreat facilitator Abagail, and yoga (60 minutes) classes (optional).
  • Airport transportation to/from Zihuatanejo Ixtapa International Airport (ZIH).
  • 3 meals a day + snacks, all farm to table.
  • Tea, coffee, filtered water, fresh juice  (alcohol, smoothies, coconuts, and specialty drinks NOT included).

Meet Your Host

DANCE 

Abagail Fritz is a Los Angeles-based choreographer, performer, and educator specializing in African-based traditional, street, and popular dance forms. With over 35 years of dance experience and two decades of study across West African dance—including Senegal, Guinea, Ghana, and the Ivory Coast—she brings deep cultural knowledge and artistic versatility to every space she leads. Abagail is a Dance Professor at Pomona College, and teaches around the USA and worldwide.

As an acclaimed performer, she has presented on some of the worlds great stages and arenas spanning over thirteen countries and four continents. She has shared stages with artists like Youssou N’Dour and Gala Rizzatto at iconic venues including Paris’ Bercy Arena, the 2024 Olympic Games, 2022 Fifa Worldcup events,  Hong Kong Kai Tak Stadium for Hong Kong Sevens, and the historic Arena di Verona, Italy.  Abagail’s retreats reflect her passion for movement, culture, and connection—inviting dancers of all levels to move with joy, depth, and authenticity.

Abby is a delight to dance with! She has a sweet, encouraging energy, and makes the moves easy to learn. It’s so clear that she has a deep reverence for these styles of dance, and honors her teachers in a beautiful way. Can’t wait for the next retreat!

This retreat reminded me how much I truly enjoyed dancing!! This is my first time taking classes with Abagail and I will definitely be taking classes with her again. I enjoyed every part of it.

I highly recommend this retreat! As someone who hasn't danced in a long time, I found the classes fun and accessible. I was able to learn new moves at a pace that allowed me to have fun and be challenged. Abby is a skillful teacher who really honors the traditions that she has come from with humility and sensitivity. It felt great to be in space with her.

I enjoyed this retreat so much with Abby. Abby is such an inspiring and amazing dancer and human! Her love for dance is infectious. I loved learning the lineages of the dances, the roots of the steps and also learning what the contemporary styles are today connected to these roots. Abby gave each and every one of us so much attention, it felt inclusive, connected and just really fun! I have been on many retreats and this one felt special in that it wasn’t so much about learning the styles, it’s more about finding ourselves in the movement.

Dance, groove, feel alive, make friends, have fun, rebirth yourself, and have a great freaking time! this retreat was amazing.

Abagail is awesome! She is a natural teacher with a wealth of knowledge that she communicates and demonstrates with ease. Her love of the culture is obvious and she mixes the historical origins of the dance steps with how the more modern moves have evolved with current music for a well rounded experience.

This was an incredible experience. I learned so much about Dance & myself. I met amazing new friends. I would love to attend the next Heart Dancer Retreat.

I feel so grateful to have been able to participate in this retreat. It was such a fun time dancing with the same group of people for a few days and being in Mexico! I'm impressed by how everything (about the retreat) was so lovely! I look forward to hearing about future retreats!
